Speaker of the day: Mr Frank Naesheim
Continental Director, Asia

  • Asia is going to be the next superpower, especially with China and India’s GDPs exceeding that of the world’s richest countries. Asia also has 2/3 of the world’s consumers, who will be wealthy very soon.

  • Asian countries must take advantage of this in the F&B industry; learn to organise and systemise your cuisine from Europe, learn marketing and promotions from the Americans but never lose touch with the cuisine you understand best— your own.

  • Activities were abundant in the region over the past two years, with countries like Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Korea and the Philippines holding many culinary activities. In 2004 a new International School for Culinary Arts was set up in the Philippines, 2005 saw a Vietnam Chef Association registered in Hanoi.
