| World's
Longest Galantine by Australian Culinary Federation
ACF Chefs team up with CIT Cookery
Students to create, cook and serve the worlds longest
Galantine
Thursday 20th October is International Chefs Day.
This date was selected by the World Association of
Cook Societies in March 2004 as a day to raise public
awareness of our industry.
This year the ACF ACT Chapter has decided to set a
world record by attempting to create a 12 metre long
Chicken Galantine. The students from CIT, along with
the ACF Chefs will de-bone over 66 chickens, which
will be placed end to end and a farce will be piped
into the centre. It will then be rolled and poached
in boiling water.
On Thursday 20th it will be taken to Garema Place
in Civic at 1200noon and sold to raise funds for a
local charity, ACT Eden Monaro Cancer Support Group.
All members or the public are welcome to come down
and purchase a slice of history!!
If you are a Chef or Apprentice, come
along in your Chefs whites for a photo at 1145am
